ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A freshman senator representing south Georgia is pleased with his first session in the General Assembly. Senator Greg Kirk said the session was successful.
One of the biggest bills passed was Haleigh's Hope Act--legalizing the use of cannabis oil for certain medical problems. Senator Kirk said a lot of work went into drafting the bill.
"We had a lot of different entities involved to ensure that we roll this out as best as we could in Georgia, and it's not a perfect bill but it's a very good bill and it's a great starting place," said District 13 Senator Greg Kirk.
The oil will be available to patients suffering from a select group of disorders.
