ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Officials announced Tuesday that Deputy Chief Ron Rowe will be the next Fire Chief of the Albany Fire Department.
Chief James Carswell recently announced that he will retire from the department after 40 years of service. He worked his way up to Chief 10 years ago. He plans to retire in June.
"My wife's grandfather was hired here in 1940. Made Fire Chief in 1969. Actually hired my Dad in 1969. And then I was hired afterwards," said Rowe.
Rowe said that Firefighter Sheniqua Robinson has been promoted to fire safety inspector. There is no timetable set for Carswell's retirement and Rowe to become Head Chief.
