Police: Victim shot in argument over food

CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Cordele Police say they are looking for Nekita Sykeem Lester Jr., 26, of 308-A West 15th Avenue. They are accusing him of shooting Dekia Appling, 36, in the leg, after an argument over some food.

First responders found Appling shot about 3:00 Monday, and transported Appling to Crisp Regional for treatment.

The victim's four year old son was close enough to get hit by some suspected shrapnel from the gun shot in his lower leg.

Lester is six feet tall and weighs about 220 pounds. His hair is cut low or he might be bald. 

Detectives are taking warrants for Aggravated Assault, two counts, Cruelty to Children, Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon, and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
