TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Police are working to figure out what happened to the driver found dead outside of his crashed car.
The body and the car was found by a Department of Transportation employee Monday morning between their office and 3rd Street.
Investigators identified the body as that of Everett James Bell of Fitzgerald.
"The gentleman did not pass away inside the car and the initial inspection of the scene did not lead us to believe he was ejected from the car," said Lt. Lee Dunston with Tifton Police.
They said the car went airborne when it crashed from 3rd Street.
Police believe the driver did walk outside of the car and was dazed. So far there has been only one witness who noticed the car, but thought nothing of it.
Tifton Police called in the GBI to make sure foul play could be ruled out.
