Most Wanted man off the street

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - One of Albany's Most Wanted from CRIMESTOPPERS Street Sweep, Kontravious Nelson, has been arrested and is in the Dougherty County Jail.

Nelson was indicted in November 2014 for a violent home invasion.

Prosecutors say just after midnight August 26th, 52 year old Ulysses Ellis answered a knock on his front door in the 1100 block of Van Deman Street. He said three men hit him in the head with a glass bottle, then robbed him at gunpoint.

When the three ran from his home, Ellis chased them and a passing police officer chased the men until they crashed their car on Netherland Lane.

Nelson is also being held on charges of terroristic threats.

Police also said that a woman told police that on August 13th, in the 600 block of Parkwood Avenue, that Nelson attacked her after an argument. He also damaged a mailbox and threatened to shoot up a house.

He faces charges of Contempt of Court, Probation Violation, and Criminal Damage to property second degree.
