ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany Police Department Officer resigned after high school students he works with saw two sexually explicit pictures of himself that he posted on social media.
Robert Ausby resigned on April 17th.
An Internal Investigation found that one week earlier, a Dougherty High School teacher saw students looking at the pictures on a phone.
Ausby told Internal Affairs that he posted the pictures on his Vine account, not knowing it would spread on the internet.
City officials concluded Ausby committed no crimes, but broke three city conduct codes.
They remind city employees to be careful about what they post on social media.
"Especially someone wearing a badge or somebody the community looks up to, you have got a exercise good judgement. That's just the end to the story," said City Commissioner B.J. Fletcher.
Investigators found Ausby did not pass the pictures to any students he mentored but that he failed to use sound judgement.
