City leaders fixing city by citizens' requests

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - City leaders are listening to the concerns of citizens. Leaders have started to renovate several buildings downtown as part of that effort.

Crews are also cleaning up the sidewalk, but the main thing they're doing is giving people a way to volunteer to help the city.

"Really getting other people involved and helping them see where they can take ownership of their community. I've seen a lot of people on social media complaining that they want to be involved they just don't know how, and we're really providing them an avenue to," said Community Development Director Benjamin Andrews.

The Town Hall meeting for the Renaissance Strategic Vision and Plan will be next Tuesday night at 6 PM.
