DONALSONVILLE, GA (WALB) - After 44 years in law enforcement, Donalsonville Police Chief Jimmy Holt said it's finally time to retire.
Chief Holt is proud the city has had only one homicide and two armed robberies during his tenure. He was hired as Donalsonville's Police Chief just four days after he retired from the Georgia State Patrol in 2003.
The chief said this time he is really retiring.
“My plans now are just camping and fishing. I've enjoyed my career in law enforcement. It's been good to me. And 44 years is enough,” Chief Holt said.
Chief Investigator Greg Long has been appointed interim chief until a new chief is hired.
