NORMAN PARK, GA (WALB) - Folks from all over South Georgia gathered in Norman Park to discuss mental illness and substance abuse.
"Transforming 2 Wellness" was held at Norman Park Baptist Center Wednesday.
Several of these symposiums are held across the state, and this was the largest one, with more than 450 people registering.
The focus was on recovery from mental health diagnosis and substance abuse issues.
"It's a day to bring out the positive and to look at hope for the future. And we do that by listening to stories of those who have the lived experience," said Lynn Wilson of the Colquitt Co. Mental Health Coalition.
In addition to success stories, there was also question and answer sessions.
Our Ben Roberts was the keynote speaker for today's event.
