ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Stop The Violence organizers warn the community that some are using their name while hosting events, and violence has marred some of those events.
Stop the Violence co-founder Bishop Frederick Williams said their board has concerns that recent rallies and events in Albany have used the Stop the Violence name, when they are not sponsored by them, and some have been marred by fights.
The Bishop urges people to check to see the Stop the Violence logo at any gathering.
"When we come together, we have a lot of planning. And we have a lot of safety measures. And so we want to kind of put that out there in the community, to know how to identify is this a safe event for your children," said Bishop Frederick Williams.
Williams said they will always have a large staffing of police officers and sheriff's deputies at their events. If you have any questions if a gathering is sponsored by Stop the Violence, you can call their office at 229-438-0388.
