ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard will host a public forum today to discuss the community impact that the voter--approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) has had during the last 20 years.
Dougherty County Administrator Richard Crowdis and Albany Assistant City Manager Wes Smith will also take part.
The SPLOST forum explains previous and current SPLOST projects, which are funded by the extra we pay as part of the local sales tax, and their benefit to the community.
The panel will explain how and why SPLOST funding is obtained and distributed, and how they decide what gets SPLOST-funding.
The meeting takes place from 3:00 until 5:00 at the Government Center, Room 100, at 222 Pine Avenue in Albany. There is no charge to attend.
