ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney hospital has found an innovative way to fight infections.
The Surfacide is a new device that uses light to clean surfaces and protect patients and staff from infectious diseases.
It will disinfect patient rooms and surgical rooms quicker.
Phoebe is the first hospital in Georgia to get the device.
"Well we're able to set these in various locations of the room to cut down on the time it takes to properly disinfect," Rodney Gause Director of Environmental services said.
The hospital has three of these units, one will be in the Sumter location and two in Albany.
