LEE CO., GA (WALB) - After seven years, jury selection will finally take place in the trial of a Lee County man, Timothy French, he is charged with the murder and armed robbery of an 82 year old Smithville man.

The investigation began back in 2008, agents were called to the scene of a home off of Pettis Road, it belonged to 82 year old AJ Mosley.

GBI discovered Mosley had suffered from severe stab wounds to his chest and head, it was ruled as a homicide. They believe someone attacked the 82 year old in a robbery attempt.

For weeks investigators reached out to the community for leads but were unsuccessful in connecting someone to the case.

It wasn't until January 2014 when an arrest was made, French was picked up in Smithville. GBI agents say 44 year old had always been a person of interest, they just needed enough physical evidence to charge him.

French has been serving time for a little over a year, he has also served four sentences in prison for non-violent crimes in the past.

Jury selection will take place Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the Lee County courthouse.
