Medal of Honor for South Georgian to be housed at ABAC in Tifton
TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -
Memorabilia from the only Medal of Honor recipient from Tifton will be housed at ABAC.
Army Second Lieutenant Harold "Pinky" Durham was killed in during the Vietnam War in 1967.
His family received the Medal of Honor on his behalf in 1969.
Durham graduated from ABAC and the School's president worked with his family to gather a collection of Durham's memorabilia.
"We wanted a place in the community where there could be an everlasting commitment to "Pinky" Durham's memory. There will become a time when family is not able to take care of that. We wanted to provide a place," said Dr. David Bridges ABAC President.
Dr. Bridges is still working with the family on the number of artifacts that will be placed in the museum.
They have not decided on a place for the museum yet.
