ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and Dougherty County Commission Chairman Chris Cohilas joined other elected officials, City and County department heads and government employees Friday, to do their part to beautify the city.

April 24th in front of the Government Center as they set the example for the community in removing unsightly litter during Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful's Great American Cleanup event.

This spring's motto for Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful is "Beauty dies where litter lies."

"We've been running 2,000 or better for the last five years. Which makes a wonderful statement about our community. Because they've really bought in to the program and they're saying loud and clear that they don't like litter," said Judy Bowles of Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful.

The annual community-wide litter pick-up event takes place the week of April 18th thru April 25th as volunteers from all walks of life join environmental hands to become an agent of positive change.
