Hudson to lead Valdosta Schools

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - With information from the Valdosta City School System-

With the imminent retirement of Superintendent E. Martin Roesch, the board of education has appointed Dr. Alvin Hudson as the interim superintendent of Valdosta City Schools, on an interim basis.

Dr. Hudson takes over on May 1, 2015.Dr. Hudson has been with Valdosta City Schools for 26 years, starting as a teacher at Southeast Elementary School in 1990, then moving to Valdosta Jr. High School in 1993.

He was promoted to assistant principal in 1994, and then principal of J. L. Newbern Middle School. 

Dr. Hudson served as principal of Southeast Elementary for nine years, at Southeast before being promoted to assistant superintendent of operations and has severed the last five years in that position.

Dr. Hudson's wife Karen is a Kindergarten teacher at W. G. Nunn Elementary School and he has two sons Jalen and Jordan.

Roesch's retirement is effective June 1, 2015.
