Two Deerfield Windsor Students collected books for local foster children.

Fifth granders Virginia Everett and Carson Willcox held several drives to collect more than a thousand books through the Junior League of Albany's Books for Buddies.

They donated the books to Necco's Foster care.

The girls started the drive after participating in the League's Bags for Buddies drive last year.

"It's truly is remarkable to see just a small flame just like flourish and grow into something like this,” said Wynita Cannon, Junior League Albany.

"We're trying to give these children a better life as well as resources that they will need to succeed in life,” said Portia Walker, Necco Home Resource Assistant.

The students are part of the "Girl Talk" program at Deerfield Windsor.

The Junior League of Albany also plans to hold Toys for Buddies Drive for foster children.
