ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Commissioners settle a 15 year long legal battle with a property owner.
At a special called meeting late Wednesday, Commissioners approved a settlement to pay Neal Thompson $600,000 for this property on Pine Avenue.
In 2000, the county used imminent domain to take the property for the Flint RiverQuarium, paying $159,000 for it.
Thompson sued saying that was far below fair value.
"I am pleased that the parties have been able to reach a compromise and that the litigation is at a close," said Timothy Davis, attorney.
The County could pay that big settlement this week.
