Military men and women are honored at the SOWEGA council on aging senior center.
Some of those attending are former prisoners of war.
They say this ceremony honors those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and reminds people to think of those serving now.
The kiwanis club planted a red maple tree and placed a stone memorial at the senior center for all the veterans who work and volunteer there or use its services.
William Graff is a veteran and a member of the Kiwanis club that made this happen he says "We came out picked a place and the rest is history."
Debbie Blanton with the SOWEGA council on aging senior center is a mother of 3 boys that joined the military and says "This tree as it grows as it provides shade for generations to come it will be a constant reminder."
