TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Tifton leaders are looking for volunteers to support the historic Tift Theatre's proposed idea of an ambassador program to the city council.
The ambassadors would replace the current 12-member board and would promote the venue and help with advertising, budgeting, and recruiting volunteers.
"Sometimes there can be too many cooks in a kitchen. And, I think, having smaller numbers helps really stay focused and stay on task," said Robert Reid Goodon, Managing Director.
"I want to be sure we get other people, besides just the theater people. That's good. But, we also need key figures that will support the theater and support the town," said Jamie Cater, Tifton Mayor.
Mayor Cater suggests seven ambassadors.
The city council will have to approve the change.
