ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The director of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency is promoting a grant program that can help local communities prepare for disasters.
Jim Butterworth met with Albany and Dougherty County leaders Tuesday afternoon to make sure they have the tools and contacts they need to handle any emergency.
He also highlighted grant money that can support School security, disaster relief, hazard mitigation, and Homeland Security.
"The first way and the way we've really been discussing today is through the grant program and the funding we can provide to increase preparedness in the area," said Butterworth.
Butterworth says preparedness is the key to successfully responding to any disaster.
