Free online public charter wants more students

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A free online public charter school is working to sign up more students.

Georgia Connections Academy has grown from a couple of hundred students in 2011 to about 4-thousand now... but only a little more than 100 in our area.

Students K through 12 take courses online at their own pace.

Leaders are planning an information session with parents in South Georgia next week.

"So when they come to an information session they can learn about what to expect when they get started, what the enrollment process is like, the teachers are real people. We have field trips and activities and events for families so we just want to make sure that families feel comfortable with what their decision is,” said Laura Berry Coordinator of Marketing and Outreach

That open session will be at the Albany Hilton Garden Inn Wednesday April 29th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
