LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - A "play date" for South Georgia children with special needs was held at a Leesburg park today.
Mission Change partnered with Butterfly Kisses to sponsor a "play date" at the Butterfly Kisses Play Park.
Children with physical and mental disabilities played on the wheelchair accessible playground, enjoyed food, petted goats and played with non-special needs children.
"Our main goal is to bring people together and to show the community that people can work together," said LaDonna Urick, Mission Change Executive Director.
"I also encourage families with as I call them "normal" children to come out and be able to interact with these children and learn more about them," said Traci Henry, President and Founder of Butterfly Kisses.
Butterfly Kisses is a non-profit organization that provides social interaction for special needs children. Their next event will be a Karate play date.
