ALBANY, GA (WALB) - You can enjoy a weekend full of events at the National Hip Hop Conference at Albany State.
It includes an exhibit of the work of an Atlanta photographer who travels the country taking pictures of hip hop artists.
Organizers say the conference teaches students to be better writers... speakers... and scholars.
Each year they choose a student to give a keynote speech.
"Being selected this year was awesome for me because I had the opportunity to express what I love most about hip hop in a academic scholarly way," says senior Lila Willis.
"Hip hop is an area of study and allows us to talk about areas of study that falls within the academic realm of things such as gender studies, business, health, mental help, psychology, so talking about hip hop allows us to talk about any study that exists in any classroom, in any way," assistant professor of English Andre Johnson.
