Statilla Elementary hopping to break a new World record

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Before Statilla Elementary students in Douglas hop into testing next week... the school worked together to try to break a world record.

More than 600 students took part in the effort to set the world hopscotch record.

Parents, teachers, and members of the community were there to support the kids as they played hopscotch for 10 straight minutes.

The goal for the students was about more than just having fun.

"The whole message is not hopscotch, it's about team work hard work and commitment and accomplishing anything you set your mind to," Principal Lee Mobsley.

The Guinness Book of World Records will now have to verify if the school did in fact break the record. But the school's principal is confident they did.
