DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - The Douglas Police Department says burglaries have gone down in their city.

According to the city's police department burglaries are down over all by about 10 percent this year to date.

Right now there have been 37 burglaries in the area, compared to 41 last year at this time. The police department credits that to the changes they've made in the past few years.

"We have our Facebook page now. You know we put out, we try to be transparent, we put out information on our Facebook page. And we have a tips line and the citizen involvement helps out a lot," said Deputy Police Chief Brannen Pruette.

The police department also says that crime overall has been down in the area as well.
