ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A dog mourning the loss of his friend is back with his owners after they ran away from their home during a thunderstorm.

A pit bull named Dozer and his friend Hoss were about 1.5 miles away from home when Hoss was hit and killed by a car.

Dozer was later found in a ditch, staying by Hoss's side by a couple of good Samaritans, who called for help.

Still heartbroken, Dozer was taken to the Albany Humane Society while officials tried to track down his owner.

But less than three days after losing him, Barbara Eidson, her fiance, and her daughter were able to get Dozer back.

She said she watched the story on WALB and immediately recognized Dozer in the video.
