LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office was, as of Friday, investigating allegations that a Lowndes High employee had improper contact with multiple students.
Friday, the school district's attorney confirmed that multiple employees had resigned or retired since the last school board meeting in March, but he said that is not unusual for this time of year.
He was unaware whether any of those resignations or retirements may have been related to the investigation.
The sheriff's office released a very brief statement Thursday, only saying that they were investigating. But, as of Friday no charges had been filed.
The school district's attorney said if the sheriff's office does decide to pursue charges, the sheriff's office will notify the school district and the school district will begin an internal investigation.
