ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The wet weather has put a damper on a popular event to clean up the community.
Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful is postponing their annual Stash-the-Trash event until next week.
County and city leaders will kick off the event Friday, the 24th at 9:00AM, with the community wide clean up the 25th.
Commissioner Jon Howard's team will still be picking up litter this Saturday, the 18th at 9:00AM, in the 100 block of Lexington
Judy Bowles says if you have a conflict you can still pick up litter this weekend, just make sure to contact her. "I would prefer that we wait because if you pick up this Saturday, your bags are going to sit there for a week. If you want to go ahead, we can accommodate you, we just thank you for participating."
This is the second year in a row the event has been re-scheduled because of rain, but it's only happened these two times in 24 years.
Organizers removed 28 tons of litter from more than 125 miles of roadside last year and they're hoping to surpass that.
