PLAINS, GA (WALB) - A large collection of Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter personal and historical items will be auctioned on Saturday.
The former first couple donated items to support their hometown.
Items include books autographed by President Carter, handmade quilts from his campaign, signed copies of his artwork., even a baseball signed by three Atlanta Braves Cy Young Award Winners.
"Money raised will go the Plains Better Hometown Program to keep the history of the 39th President alive in Plains," said Plains Better Hometown Program Director Ruth Sanders. "We do have a lot of visitors. And we want people when they come here to understand why he wants to be here, why he came back home."
The Silent Auction begins on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction will begin at 8 p.m. at the Plains Community Center.
