THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A suspected rapist has been charged and remains in jail in Thomas county.
Investigators said a woman walking down Madison Street around 5 a.m. Sunday asked 60-year-old Earnest James for a ride.
The woman told police James took her to the Wood Valley Apartment complex and sexually assaulted her in the parking lot.
Officers say it's important to draw attention to yourself if you ever feel like you're in danger.
Lieutenant Maurice Holmes with the Thomasville Police Department said, ”Start to yell, talk loudly, scream. Look for an escape route, and if you have an available opportunity to escape, take it.”
James is charged with rape and kidnapping.
