Victim arrested in Valdosta shooting, person of interest at large

Police say they have a person of interest in the case of an argument that lead to gunfire.

According to a report, Marcus Morgan called police and told them someone in a white pickup truck was firing a shotgun at him and his passenger, Kimberly Carter.

Officers responded and eventually found the white pickup truck abandoned at 904 Stillwater Dr. They also found a shotgun that had been placed in a trash can at the residence, but the people in the truck were no longer there.

Investigators later confirmed that there was damage to Morgan's vehicle consistent with damage caused by gunfire from a shotgun.

Police did not release the name of the person of interest in the case.

Officers did determine that Morgan had given a false statement, and he was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

He was also charged with terroristic threats in an unrelated incident.

The shooting is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Valdosta Police at 229-293-3145 or can remain anonymous at 229-293-3091.
