ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

This wet spring weather could create perfect breeding conditions for mosquitoes .

The Environmental Control Manager with Dougherty County Public Works says mosquitoes will start hatching in big numbers soon due to the wet and warm weather.

Crews haven't starting spraying yet, but they are prepared.

"I'm looking at my complaints that are coming in and we will start spraying perhaps early next week if not the end of this week,” said Donell Mathis, Dougherty County Public Works Environmental Control Manager. “It depends on what kind of complaints we got coming in, but we are geared up and we are ready to go."

Mathis says they're seeing small numbers of mosquitoes right now.

He encourages you to get rid of standing water near your home to help keep the numbers down.
