Dougherty County mother arrested for leaving child in car

A Dougherty County woman is arrested for leaving her toddler alone in her car while she was in the post office.

Albany Police charged 26 year old Ashley Corbett with misdemeanor reckless conduct. About 12:30 Monday a witness flagged down a police officer to report the child left alone in a car parked in the South Slappey post office.  The 18 month old girl was in a car seat in the locked car. Police found Corbett in the post office and arrested her.

Albany Police Corporal Brian Covington said "It's just dangerous all around to leave children inside of vehicles.  We're asking parents and whoever to be more responsible. Take your kids with you. Take them inside with you."

The child was not hurt, and was turned over to her grandmother.
