Tax offices remain busy as deadline approaches

Tax offices are busy with folks coming in last minute to file their taxes.

Workers at Liberty Tax in Albany say business begins picking up at the beginning of March and stays busy.

They'll file extensions for you for free, but you have to do so by the deadline which is midnight Wednesday.

"If they don't have all their paperwork together, if they don't have all their mortgage statements and 1099s are waiting to come in, or maybe they've misplaced them, it's OK," said Becky Elder, a franchisee. "They can just bring their stuff in when they get it together, but we can go ahead and file an extension so they're will be no penalties."

The Liberty Tax office on Oakridge will remain open non-stop until midnight Wednesday. Meals will be provided and children are welcome.

Their other offices are open from 7 am to midnght.
