ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Despite some wet weather over the weekend, Chehaw had a great turnout for their Native American Festival.
About 4,700 people showed up between Saturday and Sunday, and that doesn't include their school day event Friday.
Officials say the numbers are down slightly from last year, but they're still pleased with the outcome.
"What I'm most encouraged about this year is that in spite of some cloudy weather, we had pretty strong numbers. We had a lot of people come out on Saturday, and Friday for school day was a blockbuster for us," said Executive Director Doug Porter.
This year they added a Friday night event, which called Native voices, which they plan to have again next year.
Organizers are also working with the Albany Symphony for some new surprises next year.
