South Georgia Stars compete for grant

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The South Georgia Stars, a basketball team made up of middle school students is hoping to win a 2500 dollar grant from Liberty Mutual.

Today they were at Raleigh White Baptist Church playing basketball with other teams from around the South.

Coach Al Watts says they're in 3rd place right now, and they just need people to pledge.

Watts says they'll use the funds for travel expenses.

“To go to nationals, which is in Orlando Florida this year, and we are trying to take our boys and girls team to nationals and its a big fundraiser that will help us out tremendously,” says Coach Al Watts.
