Road improvement expected to draw new business, growth

LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Lee County economic development officials say they expect continued commercial business growth in the area as they improve roads.

The Westover Boulevard extension, a future underpass that will go under the Liberty Expressway, is expected to be completed in five years.

It will connect Westover Boulevard and Ledo Road.

"I'm more excited about our transportation system," said Lee County Development Authority Executive Director Winston Oxford. "What's to come in the next five years, as far as being a catalyst, to create new commercial investment in the Albany Lee County area."

Officials said that connector and the Forrester Parkway are expected to bring many more commercial businesses and big box stores to the area, enhancing South Georgia's role as a shopping destination.
