Sheriff's office asking for help in identifying armed robbers

LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office was asking Wednesday for your help in identifying two men caught on camera robbing a Dollar General at gunpoint.

It happened around 10 p.m. Saturday, April 4th in Naylor. According to the sheriff's office, an employee was getting ready to lock the door to close up for the night when two men showed up at the door with guns.

"Both males were covered with masks and long sleeve clothing," explained Lowndes County Sheriff's Office Lt. Stryde Jones. "But, both were armed with a handgun individually. They began demanding money from the clerks and that money was given to the bad guys before they fled the store."

Lt. Jones said a witness told deputies on scene at the time that they saw the two men run across Highway 84, which runs in front of the store. Lt. Jones said as of Wednesday investigators believed the two may likely got into a vehicle and drove away after crossing the highway.

Call the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office if you have any information.
