ALBANY, GA (WALB) - This week is National Community Development Block Grant week.
Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard signed the proclamation today and announced the city has raised nearly $900,000 to spread around to a variety of non-profit organizations across the area.
The mayor thanked partners and volunteers who helped over the last year.
The mayor says as available funds decrease the need increases leaving many organizations still waiting for much needed help.
"We encourage that within our city because as I said that's the only way our city can survive is all of us working together and giving to whatever cause we really, really believe in," said Hubbard.
The week will end with a celebration luncheon for all non-profits on the first floor of the Macro building at 11:30 on Friday.
