The council voted late last year to change their form of government a change recently approved by the General Assembly

“We feel like we've got a very qualified city manager coming on board and he had all of the qualifications and the background and the experience. We are just excited about being able to hire a man of his caliber and looking forward to him coming on board and steering our ship,” Barry Blount, Mayor of Americus.

Kennedy will start work April 15th as Chief Administrative Officer.

When changes to the city charter go into effect July 1st his title will be city manager.
