BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Bainbridge State College leaders plan to increase their outreach to prospective students across state lines.

Starting this fall, students from Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina will now pay in-state tuition.

The University System of Georgia's Board of Regents approved the change, which reduces an out-of-state- student's tuition from nearly $4,500 to close to $1,500 per year.

Director of Admissions Melanie Cleveland said, “Now we can go a little bit further out into Dothan and to Leon County, so that's going to benefit the college immensely. It does nothing but benefit the students, and that's our whole purpose.”

The change will go into effect this fall for students who can prove they have lived in these three states for one year. Copyright 2015 WALB. All rights reserved.
