LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - Tuesday, sleepy driving was blamed for a Lowndes County crash that injured two people, including a pregnant woman.

18 year old Robert Northrup was driving South on I-75 near mile marker 2 about 12:30 Monday morning and had started to fall asleep. He woke up and lost control when he saw the blue flashing lights from a GSP trooper's car as the trooper tried to pull him over for speeding.

Northrup and his 20 year old pregnant sister, Tina Northrup, both suffered broken legs when their SUV overturned. Robert was taken to SGMC in Valdosta for treatment. Tina was air lifted from the scene to Archibold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville due to the fact that she was pregnant, according to the trooper who worked the crash.

As of Tuesday, both were charged with not wearing seatbelts and Robert was also charged with failure to maintain lane.
