VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - It was more clear Tuesday where the process of selecting a new Valdosta State University president was at.
On April 2nd, VSU President Dr. William McKinney unexpectedly announced that he planned to resign as of July 1st, 2015.
Charlie Sutlive, Vice Chancellor for Communications for the University System of Georgia, said Monday evening in a phone interview with WALB that the University System of Georgia Chancellor was currently working on appointing an interim president.
Once that is done, Sutlive said a committee would be established to begin searching for a new president.
"There is the creation of what's called the campus committee. The campus committee will be made up of stakeholders, representatives of the campus's community, starting with faculty, staff, and students," explained Sutlive.
Sutlive also pointed out that the Board of Regents was, as of Monday, working to find presidents for some of its other universities as well and there was no timeline for when the search for a new VSU president would officially begin or when the board hoped to have a new president chosen by.
