School books, desks, and supplies are headed from south Georgia to west Africa.
Habitat for Humanity, the Albany Rotary Club, and Lee and Worth County schools worked together to collect supplies for primary schools in Liberia.
Liberian President Ellen Sirleaf, whose son is a doctor in Albany has made improving education a top priority.
Thanks to south Georgians, many school children in Liberia will not have to sit on dirt floors and will have the books they need.
Dr. James Sirleaf says "so to have a populous of educated children, women that can move a population forward has been proven to be very successful in multiple places around the world."
