TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Special needs children in Tifton felt like champions on Friday.
Hundreds of athletes, volunteers, and teachers came together for the Special Olympics at 8th Street Middle School.
Athletes ages 3 to 21 participated in the events.
Organizers said this day is dedicated to making them feel special.
"I want them to feel good about themselves. I want them to feel like they can succeed at something," said Chairman Rita Griffin. "We want them to realize that they are special people and they do and will succeed."
All the children received a trophy, medal, and t-shirt which was designed by an 8th grader.
