High speed chase ends on I-75

TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

A Florida man was in the Tift County Jail Friday after leading law enforcement on a chase in excess of 100 miles per hour on Northbound I-75.

Georgia State Patrol said Friday that around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Hahira Police tried to pull over Tyler Helterich, of Ocala, Fl. but he refused to stop.

GSP took over the chase shortly after and tried to stop Helterich near the 45 mile marker, but couldn't get stop sticks out because of the traffic. They used stop sticks again at the 59 mile marker, but Helterich went around them so a trooper used a PIT maneuver to stop the car.

As of Friday, Helterich was facing charges of DUI, felony fleeing, and reckless driving.
