BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -  Faculty and staff at Bainbridge State College are recognized for their hard work in and out of the classroom.

After a student tragically passed away last summer just one credit hour from graduating, staff members presented the student's family with his degree.

The student's mother told them how much that meant to the family, which inspired the school to create the "One Matters" campaign.

President Dr. Richard Carvajal said, “That's what this award is about.  It's about trying to recognize the difference people are making every day here in exceptional ways to change lives for the better.”

The school plans to award employees every month for their extraordinary efforts.
