ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Inaction by Congress is putting road projects all over Georgia on hold.
The State Department of Transportation depends on money from the Federal Highway Trust Fund for projects ranging from road improvements to new bridges to painting road lines.
The fund will expire in May and Congress hasn't come up with a fix.
Projects already funded and underway will not be affected, but those that haven't gotten off the ground will be.
"We have 28 projects that have been identified that can be impacted by a delay of federal funding, because we rely heavily on federal funding for our capital projects," said Nita Birmingham, Communications Office, Georgia DOT.
Affected projects in our area include resurfacing on I-75 and safe routes to school in Colquitt County.
