Names released in Bypass ramp crash

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Five people were taken to the hospital after a crash on the Liberty Expressway entrance ramp at North Slappey Boulevard Tuesday afternoon.

Georgia State Patrol said Edgar David Hernandez was driving his 2008 Cobalt in the westbound lane when he lost consciousness or some medical emergency.

His foot remained on the gas and he crossed the median and into the south shoulder.

He then went on the wrong entrance ramp and struck the front side of Brian Brock's Chevy pick-up.

Hernandez's vehicle turned counter clockwise and he entered Slappey Boulevard where he hits Lindsay Wager's Ford Explorer.

Wager had two passengers: Megan Owens and 9-month-old Gabriel Owens.

None suffered life-threatening injuries.

Hernandez is charged with failure to maintain lanes and driving the wrong way.

Albany Fire Department, GSP and Albany police were called to the scene.
